Panther Creek Bluegrass Band
Panther Creek Bluegrass band was created in 2007 by “Doc” Richard Eastman on fiddle. It is named for the famous meadow creek on Mt. Shasta. The group features Jak Anderson on mandolin, Knight Starr on upright bass, Jack Summers on guitar, and “Bard” Francis Mangels on banjo, autoharp, vocals, and occasionally other instruments. The group plays old time fiddle, bluegrass, and a scattering of Celtic with other styles. Like most bluegrass groups, they also do joyful Gospel, jigs, reels, and some downright funny stuff to show a wide variety of talent. Each member is a good soloist in his own right, from the bass on the bottom to the fiddle on top. A champion fiddler and other good musicians occasionally join the group’s traditional lively old time bluegrass sound. They perform throughout Shasta and Siskiyou counties.
