Mountain Runners July 4th t-shirt design contest
Siskiyou Arts Council is honored to be the organizers of the Mountain Runners’ July 4th Fun Run/Walk
T-Shirt Design Contest.
2012’s contest is open to Kindergarten through 8th grade students only! (5 years through 14 years for those who are home schooled or attending charter schools.)
The first place winning artist will be awarded $500 plus six t-shirts and a sweatshirt. The second place winner will receive $250.
A list of all 32 previously used wildflowers and contest criteria may be picked up at the Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd., Mt. Shasta, and can be found below.

WINNING DESIGN for 2011:
July 4th, 2011 Run/Walk T-Shirt contest Criteria
- Design competition is open to all current Siskiyou County residents only.
- 2012 contest open to Kindergarten through 8th grade only.
- Entries must include somewhere in the design a depiction of Mount Shasta the mountain.
- Design must include the words “Mt. Shasta July 4th Run/Walk 2012” in any order.
- Design must include an indigenous flower from the Mt. Shasta area that has not been used in previous years of the race.
- Artwork must be in full color and not to exceed 12 colors.
- Entries must be submitted in actual design, colors and size.
- Entries may be submitted in oil, ink, paste, or appropriate art medium. Computer designs are acceptable.
- Entries must be original works by the artist submitting the design.
- Entries must be submitted on paper no less than 8 ½” by 11” and no larger than 11” by 18”.
- Background must be white.
- Design should be drawn to size or appropriate scale to fit on the front of a short sleeve adult t-shirt.
- No more than 2 entries per person may be submitted.
- There is a non-refundable $5.00 entry fee for each design submitted. Please make checks payable to: Mountain Runners.
- DO NOT sign your name on the front of the design. Put your name, address, phone number and the name of the wildflower on the back of the design.
DESIGN ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries will be accepted between Monday, March 5 and Saturday, March 10, at the Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. Hours are 10am to 5pm. A completed entry form and the $5.00 entry fee per design are required at time of entry. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED.
PUBLIC VOTE: The designs will be on display in the Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd., from March 12 until March 24, 2012, and will be voted on by the public and by 2 artist jurors.
LIABILITIES: All artwork will be handled with the utmost care. Neither Mountain Runners nor any agent will be responsible for damage or loss to any work submitted. Insurance coverage is the artist’s responsibility.
CONDITIONS: The winning artist agrees to transfer all rights to reproduction of the image for the following possible uses:
- Imprinted garments (t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, hats, etc.)
- Promotion of the event, the contest and products through advertising in newspapers, magazines, flyers, posters, etc.
All artists submitting artwork hereby agree to the liability clause and conditions set forth in this document.
