Ariah Firefly
Ariah “Firefly” Valasquez is a singer from the heart. She was born to sing in Brooklyn, NY. However, she has lived and performed in NYC, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Mount Shasta and more. Ariah received a Bachelors in Music from SUNY Purchase in New York and trained vocally with singers such as Raz Kennedy from Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra, Ray Smolover at the Julliard School, and Marie A. from world music group Zap Mamma.
Some of Ariah’s credits include opening for Wynton Marsalis Orchestra at the age of 20, opening with the Greg Jones Band for Phoebe Snow and Jesse Colin Young, and Michael Franti, and songwriting with LA hit songwriters Rick Kelly and Mark Feist, as well as being picked as one of the top 8 singers for the show The Singing Bee on NBC. She has released one record and currently has another one on the way. One of the best parts of Ariah as a vocalist is her versatility. She is currently working on a Sanskrit devotional CD, but has sung as a studio vocalist on jazz, classical, rhythm and blues, soul and pop records, to name a few. She loves using her voice as an instrument and finds that the voice is a very powerful way to express emotion. She is a firm believer in music’s ability to heal and has used this belief as a private vocal coach for many from New York City to Mount Shasta to assist in freeing the voice.
