Alex Colvin

Alex Colvin began drawing in pencil and then moved on to working with colored pencil and pastel. At the suggestion of several artists he has been painting now in acrylics. Born in Manhattan, raised in California and Montana, he has an intense love of both urban cultural life and the world of natural beauty. He has master degrees in divinity, legal studies, and publications design.

Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Picasso, and Gauguin are some of his favorite artists that have influenced him. He is especially interested in cross cultural influences in art, intensely surrealistic, and likes lowbrow art. In addition to painting, Alex also loves photography, songwriting, and poetry. He and his wife Linda live in Burney in the Cascade Mountains in Northern California.
