Siskiyou Arts Council

March ARTS E-Newsletter 2010

Dear Arts Supporters,

.

I saw crocuses getting ready to blossom in Dunsmuir.  Spring is on its way here in far northern California.

The California Arts Council is preparing for the state competition of Poetry Out Loud that will be held in the Senate Chambers of the State Capitol on March 15th.  The competition will feature Siskiyou County’s own Rachel Cooper.  The Program will be telecast live on California http://www.calchannel.com/ beginning at 8:30am and running until 1:00pm.  Please support our high school winner.  She’s terrific!

Michael Le Guellec will be the featured Artist of the Month in March.  Each month we choose Artists of the Month from our SAC Artist Registry.  Check out the on-line gallery of local artists in the Artists Registry.  Join SAC and get your own web page.  Be part of the art that is the heart of our community.  Michael’s work will be showcased at the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. (two doors north of the Stage Door, next to the Mount Shasta Gallery).

Call me at 530-938-0130 if you would like SAC to make a presentation to your organization to learn more about SAC~what we do and why we do what we do.  You can view our promotional DVD on the home page of our website, www.SiskiyouArtsCouncil.org.

If you are visiting the area please stop by the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center.  This week our RED show ends and the PORTRAITS show will be juried on Monday, March 1, and open by Wednesday.  The opening reception for the Artists is March 5th.  Come by and vote for your “Best of Show”.

See you Friday, February 26, (5-8pm), at the Opening Reception of the Liberty Arts’ Members’ Show, Stone Soup.

Please save these dates for these SAC events:

April 25th ~ SAC/WAC Art Attack! at the Black Butte Saloon, Weed.
August 21st ~ Art in the Park at the Mt. Shasta City Park.

Enjoy some arts and the pending spring,

Lauri Sturdivant
Executive Director
